Porcia Mudavanhu / Zimbabwe
Granted from March until May 2017
Born in 1986, this documentary filmmaker learned her craft in Harare, where she studied journalism and mass communication. She has made two films so far; both of the films have subjects that are about women. The first film provocatively focused on the problem of homosexuality, and the second film dealt with women who cross the Zimbabwe border and immigrate to its neighboring countries.
Porcia Mudavanhu worked for the "Women Filmmakers of Zimbabwe" organization from 2010 – 2013, and she has been working for the Zimbabwean International Film Festival (FIFF) since 2014. Not only are films screened during this one-week festival, the organizers also present workshops, discussions, and special events.

This year the festival's "Africa Day" will take place on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF).
